The developers that inspire us

tweet Happy Friday folks! The tech team have been quiet over the past couple of weeks, but with very good reason. Almost every day we have been deploying new features and fixes to the site including product level international settings, improvements to our image captioning system and a whole host of stability improvements across the board. We have also started to get involved with Twitter. Going along with this, we’d love to share some great twitter feeds by some talented developers and designers that help break up our day with some fascinating articles & tutorials: Ethan Marcotte@beep If you’re involved in the web industry in any way, Ethan Marcotte is a name who doesn’t need introducing. As the author of the book ‘Responsive Web Design’ he is the one that started to question the safe world of fixed width layouts and started to outline ways of creating websites that dynamically change according to your device and screen size. If you haven’t read his book it’s available as a free PDF online, definitely worth taking a look at. Jack Franklin@Jack_Franklin Jack Franklin specialises in Ruby and JavaScript and also wrote the book, ‘Beginning jQuery’. He also contributes to the javascriptplayground.com. A site dedicated to a wide range of Javascript tutorials, a great site to top up your knowledge. Chris Coyier@chriscoyier Anything to do with CSS and Chris Coyier has probably done it! Coyier runs css-tricks.com which is where the Press Loft tech team find themselves some days when we come across those nasty browser inconsistencies. Net Magazine@netmag The Twitter feed for the web design publication ‘Net Magazine’ posts some great articles that make for some great lunch time reads for both designers and developers in the industry. Recently re-designed, the magazine has a combination of project tutorials and also features new products and how they were crafted by their development team. Etsy Enginnering@codeascraft The Code as Craft blog is a favourite here at Press Loft. They post some wonderful articles about what they’re up to at Etsy. Very technically driven, it goes into great detail about a wide variety of topics, including build platforms and speed performance stats.
