To make sure you’re not missing any PR opportunities, we’ve summarised the major events and key dates throughout the year, so you know which products to pitch and to talk about and when!
If you are dreaming of being featured in publications like: The Times, Elle Decor, Livingetc, Cosmopolitan, Period Living, Ideal Home, Good Homes, Grand Designs, HomeStyle, Your Home, Style at Home, Homes & Gardens, Real Homes, Modern Gardens, Period Living, Ideal Home, Good Homes, Grand Designs, Ireland’s Homes and Interiors, Homes & Interiors Scotland, Best of Irish Kitchens… you need to be planning your PR (high-res images, content) months in advance.
In order to get media coverage and start getting responses from journalists, you need to know journalists’ editorial calendars and deadlines.
- Long Lead: Those are mainly print magazines. Quarterly, bi-monthly and monthly glossy magazines normally work between 2 and 6 months in advance. It’s important to have high res images available for journalists to download as far as 6 months in advance.
- Short Lead: Short lead outlets are daily/weekly newspapers & magazines, news websites, and blogs that don’t need to prepare their features too far in advance. To target the short leads, we recommend having your content ready between 1 to 2 months prior to the season/event.
To sum up, a great timeline for pitching your products for long lead and short lead publications should be:
? Christmas – long lead pitch in June, short lead pitch up to November.
? Valentine’s Day – long lead pitch in October, short lead pitch up to February.
? Easter – long lead pitch in December, short lead pitch up to April.
We have prepared a PR Calendar to help you with all of the key deadlines.
